Frequently asked questions
- Is the PDF uploaded to a server?
- No. Text-layer extraction and OCR both run in your browser — the file never leaves your computer.
- Can it read scanned documents?
- Yes. When the sample pages have almost no text layer, OCR is enabled (Chinese and English by default). The language data is downloaded once and then cached.
- Why is the reading order wrong?
- With complex layouts such as two columns or tables, the text layer order may not match the reading order — please proofread.
- What if OCR is too slow?
- Narrow the page range, switch to "Text layer only", or press "Stop" while it runs. Speed depends on your CPU.
