Frequently asked questions
- Are the PDFs uploaded to a server?
- No. Parsing and exporting happen locally in your browser — the file never leaves your computer.
- How is this different from "PDF to Images"?
- This tool extracts the Image XObjects embedded in a PDF (a photo or logo you inserted in Word), rather than rendering every page as a screenshot. For whole pages as JPG/PNG, use PDF to Images.
- Can it pull images out of a scanned PDF?
- A scanned page is usually one large embedded image, so you may get a single big picture; if the page is pure vector text with no embedded image, there is nothing to extract. Use PDF to Images for full-page captures.
- Which format is exported?
- The current version exports PNG throughout, which is convenient for previewing and further editing. Images with unusual encodings may be skipped with a notice.
- Why does it say there are no extractable images?
- It means the PDF has no recognisable embedded Image XObject, or the image encoding is not supported yet. Try PDF to Images for a whole-page export.
