- Password Protect PDFSet an open password on a PDF and optionally restrict printing, copying and editing. The first run downloads a ~2MB encryption module (WASM); everything happens in your browser.
- Unlock PDFRemove PDF protection using a password you already know, so the file can be edited or merged. This site cannot crack or guess unknown passwords; the first run loads qpdf WASM.
- Sign PDFPlace a text, image or handwritten signature in the bottom-right corner of the page you choose (a visual signature, not a CA digital certificate).
Frequently asked questions
- Are the PDFs uploaded to a server?
- No. The redaction preview and the export both happen locally in your browser — the file never leaves your computer.
- Can someone still read the text after redaction?
- It is not visible, but the text is still inside the PDF data and professional tools can still extract it. To remove the text layer for good, use a dedicated feature such as "Mark as Redacted" in Adobe Acrobat.
- Does it work with scanned or image-based PDFs?
- Yes. The result looks the same as for text PDFs (a black block), and image-based PDFs have no extractable text layer in the first place.
- Can I export the mosaic effect?
- No. Mosaic and blur are preview-only; the export is always a solid black block so the redaction always looks the same.
- Can I redact different pages separately?
- Yes. Turn to a page, drag out the areas, and repeat — each page keeps its own black blocks.
