Editing a PDF you received in WeChat: three ways (no app download)

Your boss sends a PDF over WeChat and wants it changed? First the boundary: TwoThink cannot rewrite the text inside a PDF, but merging, splitting, encrypting and image export all work in a mobile browser.

At 3 p.m. the boss dropped a contract PDF into WeChat: "Pull out the last page, add a password, and send it back." I was on the subway with no laptop — so, can a PDF actually be "edited" on a phone?

First, the boundary: TwoThink PDF cannot rewrite the text inside a PDF the way Word does (there is no WYSIWYG editing here). But merging, splitting, encrypting, converting to images and adding watermarks — those structural operations — work fine in a mobile browser, with no app download. Here are the three routes I actually use.

Method 1: the built-in WeChat preview

WeChat can open a PDF, but the feature set is basic: view, forward, save. Want to "delete one page" or "split it into two files"? Not possible. It is good for confirming content, not for changing it.

Method 2: mobile browser + TwoThink (my recommendation)

Open the PDF with "open with another app" → save it to Files → then open the TwoThink tool site in Chrome or Safari on your phone.

Split: go to Split PDF, pick the pages you want to keep, and download the new file.
Merge: drag several documents into Merge PDF in the order you want and get one file.
Encrypt: set an open password in PDF Encryption, then send it back to the boss over WeChat.
Long image: when a preview is needed for a social post, convert the file to a long image (see the other guide on this site).

Everything is processed locally, and nothing is uploaded. I used it once on the subway: 4G only had to load the web page, and the processing itself consumed no traffic.

Method 3: dedicated apps (Adobe, Foxit and the like)

They do everything, and some support annotation and form filling. The cost is a download, storage space, and a membership tier for some features. If your company already licenses one, use it; for occasional personal jobs I find the browser lighter.

Safety note

Do not casually upload contracts to unknown "free PDF editor" sites. Plenty of them keep files on the server for 24 hours or longer. For finance and HR documents, prefer tools that run in the browser and never upload.

Common requests, mapped

What you want to doCan TwoThink do it
Rewrite a paragraph inside the PDF❌ No
Delete a few pages✅ Split / remove-pages tool
Merge several PDFs✅ Merge PDF
Add an open password✅ PDF Encryption
Convert to an image to send over WeChat✅ PDF to JPG / long image

Wrapping up

Don't panic when a PDF lands in WeChat. Not being able to change the text does not mean you cannot handle the file — work out whether you need to change the content or the structure, and the second one takes a few minutes in a browser.

Try it now → open Split PDF or Merge PDF and practise with the file from your chat.
